Chinese New Year - Eplanation

This week Mrs Anderson & Mrs Kirk patricks writing groups pared up to create a explanation about Chinese New Year. For Writing Nikaelah and I pared up. We found a video about Chinese New Year. You can find this video on our class site. We learnt that there is a legend to why Chinese New Year was celebrated. In our explanation you can find the main reasons to why Chinese New Year is celebrated & How it is celebrated. Thank you for reading my Explanation. Please be sure to give me some feed back in the comments below.

How did Chinese New Year begin?
Chinese New Year is a celebration that started a long time ago in China. For each Chinese New Year there’s a zodiac animal, if you’re born in the year of that animal you’re said to most likely have the same traits as it. One example  would be loyal if you were born in the year of the dog.

In ancient China it is said that there was a Monster who would visit the ancient Chinese every first moon of the year, when he came he would terrorise the people. The Monster’s name was Nian. One day a wise old man told the people about Nian’s weaknesses. They were the color red, loud noises and fire. The next time that Nian came the people were ready, dressed in red with flaming torches in their hands and loud beats exploding from their drums they scared Nian away.  Ever since then Chinese (and many other people today) celebrate the monster’s disappearance.

For Chinese New Year they would introduce traditional foods to celebrate with. Shrimp, noodles and egg rolls. There are more traditional foods and decorations too. For decorations people mainly use red items (sometimes gold colour too). People also hand out envelopes with money in them to children and unmarried adults, these envelopes are called Hong Bao. They’re given for good luck and prosperity. Chinese New Year is celebrated for 15 days and on the last few, people release paper lanterns. Kung Hei Fat Choi is a way of saying ‘happy new year’ in Chinese.

One day the Jade Emperor called for a race of animals to decide which twelve would be in the Chinese zodiac, which meant that if they accomplished getting into the top twelve there would be a “year” of their animal. The Rat came first and was quickly followed by an Ox , a Tiger , a Rabbit , a Dragon , a Snake , a Horse , a Goat , a Monkey , a Rooster, a Dog and a Pig.

Each Chinese New Year is a celebration of an animal that competed in the zodiac race and came within the top twelve. For 2018 the zodiac animal is the Dog. Each person to be born on the year of the dog is supposed to be loyal and responsible. Kung Hei Fat Choi

Explanation - Morning routine

This week for writing we completed a explanation about our morning routines or how we get to school. I decided to write about my morning routine because I don't do much when it comes to walking school. Here is my explanation about my morning routine. Please leave me some feedback.

                                    Morning routine
  • Breakfast
  • Wash my face
  • Brush my teeth

As you may know not much people have routines.
One of   those people are in fact talking to you know.
Any way here are some things I do on a morning bases.

Its morning and I’m feeling pretty hungry. However I remind myself
to use aspirant deodorant to my under arms. Yet my day is just getting started.
To make my Coco pops delicious I add banana & strawberries with a hint of yogurt.
Spoon by spoon fills my taste buds with paradise. Last scoop of cereal was the best as
the taste left me unexplained.

So now I am done eating my cereal and its time to head to the bathroom for a good face
wash. I read the bottle instructions step by step. Confused as I am I ask for some help.
Bubbles covering my face and as I washed it of soft skin took over.
Now my face is washed and the bubbles took  scars away with it as water
rinses down my face.

As you may be wondering what I mean by “ I don't have a routine” Is that I
sometimes change it up a bit. So for example I have a shower if I wake up at 6
in the morning. Anyway back to the second to last thing I do in my routine. To m
ake my teeth shiny and white I Sometimes use activated charcoal to brighten my tee
th up after I use toothpaste. Anyway I hope you enjoyed my small morning routine.

Remembering our summer holiday

Remembering our summer holiday
L.I. - Writing to recount
Writing using language features to engage readers

Complete these sentences about an event over the summer holiday. Don’t tell us what the event
was just give us enough information that we can know for ourselves.

I heard exhausted kids begging for a refreshing cold dessert.
I felt chilliness run through my spine like it was winter.
I saw over 10 people ahead of me.
I felt like I was in Antarctica just waiting in line.
I heard names being called out in a big loud voice.
I wondered if my name would be pronounced wrong.
I wondered if the flavor I chose would taste nice. Photo by : max pixel CC.0 domain

This week for writing Mrs Kirk Patrick & Mrs Anderson sent us a document leading to a recount we
are suppose to fill in. They gave us seven starts to a sentence. Our topic for our recounts has to
be what you did during your summer holidays. My topic is going to the ice cream shop. In
my recount it talks about How I felt,What i heard , Who I saw & What I wondered.
Once I got it checked by my teacher I was able to give a photo related to my topic.
I then got to blog my work. What I like about my recount was to use language features.
While I found a photo for my recount I had to find a attribution leading to who it was by & if it was free to use.
